During the Galaxy S24 Unpacked event, Samsung confirmed it was working on its first smart ring. Xataka On was one of the first media outlets in the world to see and touch it, and it's finally here. The Samsung Galaxy Ring is now official and comes with excellent news.

We already know all the details of the Samsung Galaxy Ring, which will be available in distinct colors and sizes, the latter of which will determine the capacity of its battery.

One Ring, Different Sizes

The Samsung Galaxy Ring has a conventional shape that won’t surprise anyone. The key to the device, or at least Samsung’s idea, is that you can wear it in situations where the Samsung Galaxy Watch is less comfortable, such as when you go to sleep. The company's proposal is simple: The Galaxy Ring is a less invasive device that you can always take with you.

The Galaxy Ring comes in three colors (black, silver, and gold) and nine sizes. Unlike watches, which have a strap that adapts to your wrist, with the rings, you’ll have to choose the size that best suits you. During the purchase process, you receive a free sizing kit that includes several plastic rings of varied sizes that you can use to determine yours size.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring will be available in nine sizes. The larger the size, the heavier and the longer the battery life.

In any case, all the rings have the same width (7 millimeters) and thickness (2.6 millimeters). The difference lies in the weight, which ranges from 2.3 grams (0.08 ounces) for the most petite ring to 3 grams (0.10 ounces) for the largest. The larger the size, the longer the battery life—up to seven days in the largest model.

Regarding materials, Samsung chose titanium grade 5. Fun fact: This is the alloy most used in dental implants. The ring has a concave surface to improve resistance, preventing the middle area from being scratched—something that's missing in the Ultrahuman Ring Air, for example. The ring also has IP68 and 10 ATM resistance, so you can immerse it in water without any problem.

Highly Focused on Health

Unlike other wearables, mainly watches and bracelets, the Samsung Galaxy Ring doesn’t vibrate or disturb the user. On the contrary, it’s a device entirely focused on health and well-being thanks to its sensors inside the ring.

What can the ring do? As the South Korean company explains, the Samsung Galaxy Ring can measure sleep, physical activity, and heart rate. It can also monitor menstrual cycles. It offers 24/7 tracking, and interesting features include automatic workout detection and a so-called Energy Score.

In short, this new feature combines sleep, physical activity, and heart rate data to give us an overall vitality score. Combining this score with wellness and exercise tips from the watch’s app (Samsung Health), the Galaxy Ring aims to help us live healthier lifestyles.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring integrates with the company’s other devices. For example, if you wear the Galaxy Ring and a Galaxy Watch 7, the accuracy of the measurements and the ring’s autonomy will improve (probably because both devices reduce the reading speed). You can also use it to do things on your phone, such as take a picture or cancel an alarm by touching your thumb with your index finger (a function very similar to one on the latest Apple Watch).

Finally, you can find the ring using the Samsung Find network. Samsung has gone the extra mile and integrated the Galaxy Ring with the Samsung Find network to make it easier to find. In fact, not only does it integrate with the network, but it also lights up the LEDs of the biometric system to make it easier to see with the naked eye. This doesn’t happen with other rings, such as the Ultrahuman Ring Air—if you lose it, finding it turns into an adventure.
