Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7: Samsung’s Flagship Watches Are Packed With New Features

At Wednesday’s Unpacked event, Samsung revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, which we’ve already had the chance to test briefly. Here, however, we’ll discuss the new generation of Samsung smartwatches, as significant changes are on the horizon.

The company unveiled the Galaxy Watch 7 alongside the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which appears to want to compete directly with the Apple Watch Ultra. Let’s discuss the specs and technical details of the new flagship Samsung watches for 2024.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

Despite being an “Ultra” model, this Galaxy Watch shares many hardware components with the Galaxy Watch 7. It’s the most durable smartwatch ever produced by Samsung, featuring a titanium structure, 10 ATM water resistance, and an operational range from 1,600 feet below sea level to 3,000 feet above sea level. In terms of operating temperatures, it can withstand a range between -4°F and 130°F when worn on your wrist.

Additionally, it’s equipped with a new quick access button that allows for swift initiation of workouts or customization for other desired functions.

While quite similar, the design is quite distinctive because the frame is an intermediate between a square and a circle.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Watch Ultra with the Exynos W1000 processor, a powerful chip with five cores manufactured using a three-nanometer process. It’s one of the most advanced processors ever seen in a watch, and it comes with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory.

This is the best Galaxy Watch screen ever, boasting a 1.5-inch AMOLED display, native faces with night mode, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Samsung promises a battery life of up to 100 hours in power-saving mode. It’s yet to be seen how it performs without using this mode.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7

The Galaxy Watch 7 has a design reminiscent of previous generations and comes in 40 mm and 44 mm versions with 1.3 and 1.5-inch screens, respectively. Although it’s not an Ultra model, it features Sapphire Crystal, which is essential for preventing scratches.

The watch shares the same processor as the Ultra model and includes all the measurement systems. Samsung has also introduced new health-related features for this generation.

In addition, the watch now uses artificial intelligence to provide data on sleep apnea. It also provides IHRNs (Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification) and lets you monitor blood pressure and perform ECGs. This makes it one of the most comprehensive options on the market for health measurements.
