A Symmetrical Design That Continues to Be Perfected
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 looks almost the same as the Z Fold 5, but with improvements. This year, it weighs 239 grams, which is considerably less than the 253 grams of the previous model. The thickness has also been reduced from 13.4 mm when unfolded and 6.1 mm when folded to the new dimensions of 12.1 mm when unfolded and 5.6 mm when folded. It’s still thicker than most phones, but these measurements are now more manageable.
In addition to being lighter and thinner, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 promises to be the most durable version yet. It comes with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and, for the first time, improved Armor Aluminum in the frame and hinge housing.
The Z Fold 6 features a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED main inner screen with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,856 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The outer display is slightly larger at 6.3 inches, with a resolution of 2,376 x 968 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Moreover, the display has an improved brightness of up to 2,600 nits.
Samsung has powered the screen with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor and 12 GB of RAM, making it one of the most powerful mobile configurations available today. Additionally, it comes with an improved cooling system featuring a vapor chamber that is 1.6 times larger than the previous generation.
The new Samsung device features a 4,400 mAh battery with 25 W wired charging and 15 W wireless charging. In terms of photography, it sports a triple camera setup on the back, comprising a 50 MP main sensor, a 12 MP wide-angle sensor with a 123-degree field of view, and a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. All three cameras come with optical image stabilization (OIS).
The front-facing external camera is 10 MP, while a 4 MP sensor is located under the display.
Galaxy AI to Take Advantage of the Big Screen
Similar to the Galaxy S24, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes with several artificial intelligence features. For instance, the Note Assist feature in the Notes app allows users to translate, format text, and generate summaries. Additionally, the PDF overlay translation feature enables users to upload and translate a PDF file directly in the Notes app.
The Samsung Keyboard app has added new features that suggest text from words, while the S Pen introduces the Sketch to Image function, which allows users to create AI images.
One of the Galaxy AI highlights in the Z Fold 6 is the Interpreter mode, which utilizes the dual screen, and the Live Translate feature during calls. This feature was previously available in the S24 and is now compatible with third-party apps.
The Z Fold 6 comes with Android 14, along with OneUI 6.1. It now includes Google features such as Circle to Search and the new Google Gemini app.
The phone offers Samsung Knox security and promises seven generations of OS updates and seven years of security updates.
