Privacy Policy

In WEBEDIA ESPAÑA SL. we are aware of the importance of privacy and data protection of our users. For this reason, in Webedia we have conducted an analysis of the treatments carried out as well as the risks inherent in them to establish policies and measures to protect personal information we may collect from our users.

Data processing

The company responsible for the indicated treatments is WEBEDIA ESPAÑA SL. whose other identification and communication data can be found at the beginning of this privacy policy.

In compliance with the provisions of EU Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR), we inform you that the data you provide as a registered user will be processed for:

Keep your user profile active on our platform, allowing you to interact and use the different tools that we make available to you as a registered user. Your profile will remain active until you unsubscribe
If you subscribe to any of our portals to automatically receive the news that we publish in them, your email address will be used to send you these news.
If you participate by writing comments, your user name will be published. We will not publish your e-mail address in any case.

All your personal data is stored on servers located within the European Union and under specific security measures intended to prevent unauthorized access or leakage of information.

In addition, the personal data we collect will be treated confidentially, applying the technical and organizational measures set out in our internal security policy; we also inform you that a risk analysis and impact assessment has been conducted to ensure that we protect our users' information in order to prevent unauthorized access, manipulation or improper disposal.

The legal basis for all the treatments indicated above is that of consent; we will keep the necessary information to prove that you gave the corresponding consents when you registered with us. You may withdraw your consent at any time in your profile or by requesting the cancellation of your account.

We also inform you that you have the rights of access, rectification, opposition, deletion and limitation of processing of your personal data, and may exercise them by writing to the address of the person responsible. We will keep your data for as long as you keep your profile active; if you unsubscribe, we will delete your profile and keep your personal data for a period of 3 years in order to be able to respond to any liabilities arising from the processing of your personal data.

All the contributions (comments) you have made to our portals will be kept but associated to an anonymous user called "Deactivated user".

We also inform you of the possibility of filing a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency in the event that you consider that the processing of your data is not being adequate.

One account, all portals

When you register in any of these portals you will be able to log in also in the rest of the portals with the same credentials without having to register individually in each one of them.

Subscription to receive new articles and commercial communications

From our portals it is possible to subscribe to receive in your e-mail the new articles we publish. In addition, if you expressly consent, within these newsletters we may incorporate promotional or commercial messages of interest from our collaborators.

To verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address you have provided, we will send you a verification message so that you can activate the subscription.

You may unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions in each message we send you.

We use the services of Actito to send this type of messages. Here you can check their privacy policy.

In our forms we use Google's recaptcha security verification service. This service allows us to avoid massive registrations or spam, verifying that the user who enters the data is a human. You can get more information about this service in their privacy policy.

In no case we will give your email address to third parties to send you commercial communications.

Content personalization technologies for registered users.

As a registered user and logged in to one of our portals, you have the possibility, if you accept it, to enjoy personalized content tailored to your preferences. To personalize your content, in addition to cookies we may use other types of technology, such as, for example, that based on an encrypted and pseudo-anonymized identifier of your e-mail address. In this way, and provided that you give your consent, we will integrate this data within our network of partners to track your activity within the portals that use this technology and customize the content based on such activity.

When you enter your email address on our website (whether to log in, subscribe to a newsletter, or similar) or when you use our app, we may share the personal or other information we collect, such as your email (pseudonymized as a hash), mobile advertising identifier, IP address or information about your browser or operating system, with our partner LiveRamp and its group companies, acting as joint controllers. LiveRamp's privacy policy and options for objecting to this activity are available here. LiveRamp uses this information to create an online identification code in order to recognize you on your devices. This code does not contain personally identifiable information and will not be used by LiveRamp to re-identify you. We include this code in our cookie or use a LiveRamp cookie to be used for online and multi-channel advertising. It may be shared with our advertising partners and other third-party advertising companies globally in order to enable interest-based content or targeted advertising across your online experience (e.g., web, email, connected devices and apps, etc.). These third parties may, in turn, use this code to link to demographic or interest-based information you have provided in your interactions with them. You have the right to decide whether you consent to our use of LiveRamp cookies as well as to our sharing this data with LiveRamp for the purposes mentioned above."

In any case, your email address associated with your user on our portals is kept confidential and is not provided to any collaborator.

You can withdraw the consent initially given through our consent panel on cookies and other tracking technologies.

Unsubscribe as a user

You can request to unsubscribe as a user in your profile settings. When you request to unsubscribe as a user the following things will happen:

1º: Your account will be deactivated and you will not be able to recover it. You will not be able to access it or leave comments or vote.

2º: If you have published messages they will be kept but associated to an anonymous user called "Deactivated user".

3rd: The data provided in your registration will be kept for 3 years only to respond to possible liabilities arising from the processing of these data. They will not be used for any other purpose. Once this period of time has elapsed they will be deleted.

4th: Subscriptions to newsletters that you had active will be canceled.

Treatment of data of minors

Our services must be used by people over 13 years old, so in case you are not this age you should refrain from using them.

If we detect a user profile under this age, it could be suspended or the user may be asked to prove their age to continue using the service.

Contact Form

In our portals there are contact forms to send us comments, suggestions or proposals. These forms request the minimum essential information to be able to attend these requests: your name and your email. These data you provide will be used only to respond to your request, being the basis for the processing of these data the legitimate interest between the person who writes to us and us.

Subscription to receive promotional offers

On special dates (e.g. Black Friday) we may carry out special campaigns or promotions, and you can subscribe to receive in your email offers and promotions selected by the Xataka team.

If you subscribe you will receive, until you unsubscribe, these offers and promotions in your email address.
