Snapchat’s Solar System is a feature for Snapchat+ subscribers. It lets you see a badge on your best friends’ profiles. Tapping on the badge assigns a planet to each of these people.
This guide explains how the feature works, what it means, and how many friendships can be considered “best friends.” It also covers the planets’ order and how each person is assigned a planet.
What Are Snapchat Planets?
The Snapchat solar system is a tool the social media platform uses to display and organize your best friends by assigning a planet to each. To access it, go to a friend’s profile. When you see the badge indicating they’re one of your best friends, you can click on it to see their position in the solar system.
This is a paid feature available for Snapchat+ subscribers, who pay $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year.
The feature generates a list of your top eight Snapchat friends based on who you interact with the most. Each friend is assigned a planet. In this visualization, you’re the Sun, and the closer the planet assigned to a friend is to the Sun, the higher they rank on your best friends list.
What Does the Order of the Planets Mean?
There are eight planets to distribute among your top eight best friends. They follow the real planets of the solar system. The closer a planet is to the Sun, the higher that friendship ranks on your list. This feature also serves as a way to familiarize yourself with the planets.
Here’s the list of planets and their order. Remember, you’re the Sun in this visualization:
- Mercury: Orange, pink, and blue-gray with bronze tones. It’s the closest planet to the Sun and represents your best friend.
- Venus: Light brown, like sand. It’s the second planet.
- Earth: Blue with green continents. It’s the third planet and corresponds to your third best friend.
- Mars: Red in color and the fourth planet.
- Jupiter: Orange and yellow with characteristic spirals.
- Saturn: Orange-yellow, easily recognizable by its ring.
- Uranus: Features two green tones with spirals.
- Neptune: Deep blue, representing the eighth position and your eighth best friend.
