Few leaks about the Nintendo Switch’s successor have been as noteworthy as the one emerging from CES 2025, currently underway in Las Vegas. Various accessory manufacturers have shown realistic replicas of Nintendo’s next console. Many create these mock-ups to demonstrate upcoming features to customers and media outlets.
Genki was among the manufacturers displaying mock-ups behind closed doors. These models, similar in size and weight to the rumored Switch 2, suggest the new console will be noticeably larger than its predecessor. Another major change is the Joy-Con design, which will reportedly use a magnetic attachment system rather than the vertical mechanism of the first Switch.
French media outlet Numerama has published a video on its social media platforms showcasing this mock-up and comparing it to the current console. Meanwhile, rumors about a release date have surfaced, pointing to April 2025—a timeline that reportedly originated in the Genki presentations. This date aligns with an earlier-than-expected launch window compared to prior speculation.
If this rumored release date is accurate or close to Nintendo’s plans, the company has little time left to make an announcement. To execute an effective marketing campaign, Nintendo would likely need to unveil the console in January or early February. Along with the hardware reveal, fans are eagerly awaiting details on what is expected to be the most exciting aspect of the new console: the launch catalog.
