If there’s one thing that millionaires have in common, it’s that they probably want to buy a yacht. However, some prefer to invest in personal submarines. These small vessels can be launched from larger boats, allowing owners to explore the depths of the ocean from a unique perspective.

In recent years, personal submarines have emerged with various prices and features. For instance, a vehicle called Nemo costs more than $500,000. Those with a larger budget might choose the Triton 660, starting at $2.5 million.

A Personal Submarine for Millionaires

Alternatively, the Super Falcon 3S personal submarine costs $2 million. This model is unique because it bears little resemblance to its competitors. Instead, it resembles an airplane that can operate underwater. In fact, the company behind it, DeepFlight, reflects this concept in its name.

The Super Falcon 3S features a trio of spherical domes designed to accommodate a maximum of three people.

Each passenger has access to a complete set of controls, allowing anyone on board to take charge. For example, a more experienced individual can temporarily hand over control to the submarine’s owner for a more immersive experience.

The Super Falcon 3S has an electric propulsion system powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries. This system can generate 14 kWh (18.7 hp) of power, allowing the submarine to move at a speed of approximately 4 knots (4.6 mph).

Although this speed may seem low, it’s comparable to that of other vessels with similar characteristics. The primary mission of the Super Falcon 3S is to safely explore the ocean floor. Unlike in transport or military operations, speed isn’t a primary concern in this context.

Regarding safety, the submarine is equipped with multiple systems designed to handle potential emergencies. It features an emergency flotation device that allows for a safe return to the surface, as well as a depth protection system to prevent it from descending beyond safe limits.

Additionally, the Super Falcon 3S has two independent oxygen systems and a life support system capable of functioning for 72 hours. This duration is sufficient for search and rescue teams to locate the submarine in the unlikely event that it can’t resurface.

While DeepFlight’s submarines are primarily targeted at millionaires, the Four Seasons Resort in the Maldives offers guests the opportunity to experience a ride aboard a Super Falcon 3S in Baa Atoll for an additional fee.
