The recently launched Nubia Flip 5G is one of the phone market’s most accessible foldable clamshell alternatives. It's irrefutable proof that if we want phones in this format at a lower price, manufacturers have to move away from the high-end range. And no, this doesn’t have to be a negative thing.

These are the specs of the new Nubia Flip 5G, a phone with a Qualcomm processor and an incredibly thoughtful design. It starts at $499.

A Foldable Phone With a Lot of Personality

The back of the Nubia Flip 5G is quite different from what we’ve seen so far in flip phone proposals. It has a huge circular module, although the cameras don’t have large sensors. This module not only hides the 50 + 2 MP dual camera but also contains a tiny 1.43-inch display.

The purpose of this phone isn’t to have a large secondary screen that you access when the phone is folded, but rather to provide a quick way to access essential elements such as the time of day, calls, and basic apps like timer and audio playback, among others. Its design is a way to limit the device’s price and to differentiate itself from its competitors with a simple but valuable proposal.

The main screen is quite large at 6.9 inches, with Full HD+ resolution, OLED technology, and a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. The front bezels are narrow on the sides and slightly thicker on the top and bottom. There’s also a notch that houses the front camera.

A base configuration of 8 GB + 256 GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor complete the hardware, which is more than enough for a mid-range device. This foldable phone, which runs Android 14, is powered by a 4,310 mAh battery that offers 33W fast charging.

Nubia Flip 5G Price and Availability

The 8 + 256 GB Nubia Flip 5G starts at $499, while the more ambitious combination, 12 + 512 GB, starts at $699.
