The annual CES event takes place in Las Vegas in early January and serves as a platform for innovative ideas. Among the exhibitors in this year’s edition is Yukai Engineering, a company focused on creating solutions for all sorts of problems, both big and small.

A cat robot that blows air. One of Yukai Engineering’s unique products is a small cat-shaped robot that, despite having no moving parts, is designed to sit atop a glass or cup and blow air onto its hot contents, cooling them down.

Nekojita Fufu

Nékojita FuFu. According to Dezeen, Nékojita FuFu, the name of the product, holds significant meaning. It combines two concepts. “FuFu” is an onomatopoeic term that mimics the sound made when blowing on hot food, while “néko-jita” means “cat tongue” in Japanese. This term also describes individuals who have a low tolerance for hot food, which, according to a survey from 2018, affects about half of the population.

A product for all sorts of food. Interestingly, one employee’s personal story inspired the idea for the device. He recalled the effort it took to blow on his son’s food repeatedly, which left him out of breath and a little dizzy. While the product is particularly effective for cooling coffee, it can also be used to cool other hot foods, such as soups or baby porridge.

An intriguing gadget. The Nékojita FuFu has several blowing modes that vary in duration, strength, and rhythm. The mode names, like “I've Got Thisl!” and “The Princess Elegant,” are eye-catching but don’t clearly indicate the type of airflow they represent.

Available only in Japan. This unique device features a small fan that generates air and expels it through the cat robot’s mouth. The company claims it can cool beverages from 190 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit in about 3 minutes and to 150 degrees Fahrenheit in about 5 minutes. The product is expected to launch through a crowdfunding campaign in Japan in mid-2025, with a projected price of around $25.
