In this post, we’ll explain how to connect a Bluetooth headset to the Xbox One, Microsoft’s third-generation console. Many users experience challenges with this, and the connection process varies depending on whether the headset is compatible.

How to Connect Bluetooth Headsets to Xbox One

The Xbox console has limited compatibility with Bluetooth headphones, meaning not all models will work with it. However, if you have a compatible headset and purchased it for this purpose, follow these steps to connect it to your console:

  1. Turn on your headphones and activate pairing mode. This is typically done by pressing and holding a specific button for a few seconds.
  2. Once the headset is blinking, turn on your Xbox One console.
  3. Put the Xbox One into pairing mode by holding down the button located below the X power button.
  4. You’ll know the console is in pairing mode when the power light begins to flash.
  5. With both the headphones and console in pairing mode, they should automatically connect to each other.

What to Do When Your Headphones Aren’t Compatible

When your headphones aren’t compatible, it can complicate things.

Here are three main solutions:

  • Connect via the TV: If your TV supports Bluetooth, you can try connecting your headphones directly to it to listen to audio from the console.
  • Use the Xbox App: Another option is to connect your headphones to your phone and use the Xbox App. In the app, click the Social icon and select your headset to start using it while playing.
  • Bluetooth transmitter: This is actually the simplest solution. You can buy a Bluetooth transmitter that plugs directly into the controller. Then, connect your headphones to the transmitter, which has a Bluetooth jack, allowing you to use it seamlessly.
