There are several competitors to ChatGPT, but Claude is one of the few that has managed to surpass it. According to some ranking systems, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, released in June, has managed to dethrone GPT-4o. The app is now available for Android.

The Claude app is completely free to download on Android, allowing users to access the model without paying a cent. However, there are significant limitations, and users will need to pay to unlock the full potential of this AI chatbot.

Sonnet 3.5 outperforms GPT-4o in various areas. According to its creators, it has significantly enhanced capabilities for writing, translating code, and accurately interpreting documents.

However, as the saying goes, all that glitters is not gold. Sonnet’s free version doesn’t allow users to generate files or read URLs, whereas the free GPT-4o version does. Additionally, when using Claude, its authentication system requires providing your phone number, which is not needed when using OpenAI’s AI.

As we mentioned, Claude’s free Android version has limitations. After exchanging a few messages with Claude, users have to wait about five hours before they can communicate with it again. In this case, the free version of GPT-4o has a similar limitation.

For enhanced AI functionality, users can pay $20 per month for the Pro plan. This plan offers access to Claude 3 Opus and Haiku, two of Sonnet's sister models that unlock additional features. It also provides early access to new features and priority access during peak usage periods.
