When we think about toilets, most people imagine a white toilet with a white bowl, a cistern full of water, and a white lid. This is the same unexciting toilet we all have at home. But what if you could personalize it and give it a unique touch, similar to how you can change the case on your phone? Well, ask and you shall receive. There is one catch though: It's going to cost you more than $1,000.
Bailey Hikawa. Bailey Hikawa is a Los Angeles-based artist. Her namesake company is known for creating unique accessories, from ergonomic cases for holding phones with two hands to designs to improve one-handed grip. The company’s phone case models come in different styles and colors, including some that look like they’re made of spaghetti and even one made with watches. While these cases can be pricey (comparable to a mid-range mobile phone), they’re certainly original.
The company also manufactures toilet seats. While most people have a standard toilet, others enjoy customizing every aspect of their home, including the toilet. While modifying the toilet base and the ceramic tank is difficult, replacing the lid is simple. Is there anything better than sitting on a toilet seat decorated with an old Blackberry and a micro-USB cable? Probably not.
2G Trash Phones. The company recently launched a peculiar toilet seat called 2G Trash Phones. It consists of two parts: the toilet seat and the cover itself. In addition, it’s made of granite-like resin and contains old cell phones and cables, including a Blackberry, Motorola Razr V3, Samsung phones, and a couple of cables. Regardless of personal taste, the design of the toilet seat is original, to say the least.
How much does it cost? $1,250–nothing more, nothing less. It’s quite expensive, but no one said that having a premium throne for your butt was cheap. For now, Bailey Hikawa has only manufactured two units, and it’s currently sold out. In case you’re interested, even the toilet seat size is unique: 18.5 inches. To find out the size of your toilet seat, you need to measure from the seat bolt hole to the front edge of the toilet bowl.
It’s not the most expensive toilet seat sold by the company. Not by a long shot. The award for the most expensive toilet seat goes to A Matter of Time, a toilet seat adorned with analog clocks priced at $1,750. There’s another one filled with synthetic hair, which costs $1,350.
