From Bad Reviews to Fire Risks. The Adventures of the Humane AI Pin Continue
Without a doubt, the debut of Humane’s AI Pin has been disappointing, with some negative reviews from its first users. We also learned about its processor, the Snapdragon 720G, a well-known Qualcomm model, which was released in 2020.
After its disastrous launch, the company behind the AI Pin made an odd announcement. According to The Verge, Humane recently emailed users to inform them of a battery cell problem on the devices.
In its email, the company purportedly stated that the AI Pin's charging case “may pose a fire safety risk.” As such, Humane is said to have urged Pin owners to stop using it, and claimed that it’s already working to finding a replacement supplier for the batteries in its charging cases.
Importantly, Humane reportedly reassured users that the device and its charging system haven’t been compromised and aren’t part of the warning. To make up for the inconvenience caused by the problem, Humane is offering two free months of its subscription service, according to The Verge.
On the other hand, the company didn't reveal in its email whether it would make a new charging case. It's could be possibility if it can find a new supplier. Humane hasn’t commented on the matter on social media or its website.
In the email, Humane reportedly warns device owners that using “a third-party USB-C cable and third-party power supply” with the poor-quality battery cell poses a risk of fire. The company stated it share more information when it concludes its investigation.
