Google will reportedly slightly change its strategy with its Pixels in 2024. According to rumors, the company wants its phones to look more like devices from Apple and Samsung, and as such will release more than two high-end models. The Pixel 9 will reportedly occupy a position similar to that of iPhone 16, the Pixel 9 Pro will take the place of the iPhone 16 Pro, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL will be the Pro Max model.

The new XL surname, which adds one model to the lineup, is said to come with a price increase. This is customary when manufacturers introduce new models, so it wouldn't be surprising. In fact, there are already some prices floating around.

The French website Dealabs, as spotted by Android Authority, leaked European prices for the Google Pixel 9 lineup last week. The Pixel 9 (128 GB) will cost €899 euros (about $977), and the 256 GB model will cost €100 euros (about $107) more.

Google will purportedly maintain the price of the Pixel 8 Pro for the Pixel 9 Pro, which starts $999 in the U.S. So far, everything remains the same as last year, with one significant exception: Buying a Google Pixel 9 Pro no longer means purchasing the best Pixel in the lineup.

If you want the larger model, there will now be an XL model, with a purported starting price of €1,199 euros (around $1,303) for the 128 GB version and €1,299 euros (about $1,413) for the 256 GB model. Considering the Pro XL model will be nothing more than a larger Pro, the surname move is a perfect plan to raise prices.

Currently, these are leaked prices and haven’t been confirmed by Google. However, if the competition has taught us anything, it’s that every time a new surname is born, there's a new price to go along with it.
