On Tuesday, HP held its annual HP Imagine event at the company’s Palo Alto offices. Among this year’s innovations is HP Print AI. This announcement marks the arrival of the first intelligent printing experiences for home, office, and large-format printing, bringing innovation to a challenging industry.

Star of the show. One of HP Print AI’s most intriguing features is Perfect Output. It’s currently available in closed beta and will be expanded in 2025. This feature ensures that prints come out perfectly and addresses issues such as:

  • Web printing: It eliminates unnecessary white space, adjusts image size and resolution, and excludes web ads.
  • Spreadsheets: It doesn’t split tables and graphs into separate pages.
  • Personalized layouts: It allows users to choose whether to print the entire document, just the text, an alternative layout, or to fit the most relevant information on a single page by eliminating superfluous elements.

In addition to its practical functions, HP Print AI offers a creative feature that allows users to transform photos into artistic projects using a chat interface.

For instance, you can turn a family photo into a personalized greeting card using chat requests. This involves modifying fonts, adding graphic elements, and even including a gift card as a redeemable code, all within the app.

The app also emphasizes natural language support, utilizing AI to process natural language and context and to remember users’ preferences and previous questions. This is aimed at providing better-automated support.

HP Scan AI Enhanced. This app is now available for the commercial market. This is what the cloud-based solution can do:

  • It automatically recognizes scanned documents.
  • It extracts relevant information based on specific business needs.
  • It eliminates manual steps and data entry.

HP showcased a success story of an Italian retail group that reduced 80% of labor costs after implementing this solution in its inventory-related workflow.

New printer series. In addition, HP announced the new Envy 6100 and 6500 series multifunction printers. These printers are the first in their class to support the DCI P3 color space, which offers a photo printing experience that’s true to what you see on screen. They both feature automatic duplex printing, up to 4800 x 1200 dpi resolution in color, and print speeds of up to 10 ppm in black.

Designed for home use, users can control the printers using a touchscreen or via the HP Smart app. The 6500 model is priced at $159.99, while the 6155e unit starts at $139.99. Both printers use two ink cartridges, each yielding 160 pages for black and 120 for tri-color. The replacement price for a pair of cartridges is $45.99.

Conclusion. The integration of AI with printing, an area that has remained largely unchanged at the software level for decades, is now more appealing than ever, both for home and office use.
