How Many Pixel 9 Models Will Google Launch?
According to OnLeaks, Google is breaking a long-standing tradition by launching three high-end models instead of two:
- Google Pixel 9 Pro XL
- Google Pixel 9 Pro
- Google Pixel 9
The Google Pixel 9 is the standard and entry-level model, just above the potential Pixel 9a. It’s smaller than the Pro variants and has lower camera configurations.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro is an upgraded model with a better screen and camera and may have extra artificial intelligence capabilities, following the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro tradition. The Pixel 9 Pro XL has the same specs as the Pixel 9 Pro but larger.
Google is potentially planning to launch a mid-range Pixel 9a at the beginning of next year, but this model usually arrives on the market months after the high-end models are released.
What to Expect From Google Pixel 9’s Design?
The design of the upcoming Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL has been fully leaked. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will have an even larger module as they will house a telephoto lens. These models will keep the rounded shapes of their predecessors, but a slightly more refined and even more peculiar look is expected.
The phones will be thinner and flatter than last year’s thanks to the aluminum bezels, similar to the iPhone’s design. The front edges seem to be better utilized, and the differences between one model and another will mainly be due to size.
Both models are expected to be somewhat smaller in terms of size. The screens of both models will be slightly reduced in size, so we could be facing two more compact phones.
Release Date: When Will the Google Pixel 9 Be Launched?
Google is expected to launch the Pixel 9 in September/October 2024, as it has been doing in the last few years. Last year, the Pixel was released on October 4th, so both models on the market should be out in the first weeks of October.
What Specs and Features Will the Google Pixel 9 Have?
Some leaks have revealed that the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will evolve in different departments. Both models will feature the Tensor G4, which is Google’s new processor. However, there’s no information yet available about the processor’s specs or whether it will be developed in partnership with Samsung using some version of the Exynos processor.
According to the leaks, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will feature a Mali G715 GPU instead of Samsung’s Xclipse 2400. No information regarding the devices’ memory capacities is available yet. However, it’s unlikely that the Pixel 9 will have less than 12 GB of RAM, which is the minimum expected for the Pro model.
The screens of both models will be AMOLED, but there will be some differences in their sizes. The Pixel 9 Pro will feature a 6.5-inch screen, which is slightly smaller than the 6.7 inches of the previous model. The Pixel 9 will have a 6.1-inch screen, and the resolution is expected to be Full HD+. The Pixel 9 Pro will have a Quad HD+ resolution. The Pixel 9, which is the smallest device of the family line, will have a 6.03-inch screen.
What Camera Specs Will the Google Pixel 9 Have?
The Pixel 9 camera will introduce some changes. According to leaks, it will have a triple camera setup, consisting of an ultra-wide, a wide lens, and a telephoto camera. However, there is no information available about the megapixels or focal lengths yet. It’s expected that the telephoto camera will have at least 3x zoom. It’s worth noting that this information doesn’t refer to the Pixel 9’s camera, but the Pixel 9 Pro’s.
The 9 Pro XL model is also expected to have the same camera setup, while the Pixel 9 will only feature a dual camera setup, consisting of one wide lens and one ultra-wide camera.
Artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in the Pixel, and it’s expected that the camera will also receive new features and improvements in this regard. However, it’s yet to be seen how many of these new features will be available locally, and how many will depend on Google’s cloud services.
How Much Will the Google Pixel 9 Cost?
It’s too early to know the price of the upcoming Google Pixel, but it’s worth mentioning that Google has been increasing prices for the past few years. Rumors are circulating that the Google Pixel 8a, the mid-range model, may cost more than last year’s version.
These were the prices for the 2023 generation upon release:
- Google Pixel 8: $699
- Google Pixel 8 Pro: $999
It wouldn’t be surprising if the price of each model increased slightly, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Pixels’ prices are still slightly lower than their direct competitors, making them a better option for best value.
