Porsche Didn’t Have a Minivan in Its Lineup, So Mark Zuckerberg Decided to Create One Himself

  • Priscilla Chan wanted a Porsche minivan, but it didn’t exist. Her husband came up with a solution.

  • The tech mogul co-designed a new vehicle based on a modified Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT.

While many fans of Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini supercars may find it unfathomable, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently helped design a Porsche minivan as a gift for his wife, Priscilla Chan.

In an Instagram post, Zuckerberg revealed that his wife needed a minivan for the whole family. “New side quest. Priscilla wanted a minivan, so I’ve been designing something I’m pretty sure should exist: a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Minivan,” he said.

When you’re the third richest person on the planet, according to Forbes, it seems that anything you imagine can become a reality, even a Porsche minivan.

No Minivan in Porsche’s Lineup? No Problem

The closest vehicle to a minivan in Porsche’s lineup is the Cayenne Turbo GT, a large four-door SUV. The 2024 version of this model is only available in American and Chinese markets, with a starting price of $203,000. It’s equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 650 hp. However, Zuckerberg felt that this car wasn’t impressive enough.

To explore more options, the tech mogul collaborated with West Coast Customs, a well-known car customization shop in California. This shop gained popularity for modifying cars on the MTV show Pimp My Ride, hosted by rapper Xzibit in the early 2000s.

In fact, the first Cayenne Turbo GT Minivan was produced in the West Coast Customs workshop. The car has an extended overall length to accommodate a new line of seats and is equipped with a sliding and electric side door without an exterior guide to maintain the spectacular design of Porsche’s SUV.

Zuckerberg’s Instagram post doesn’t show the modifications made to the interior, but it seems that lengthening the original Cayenne’s chassis must have added a lot of space.

The closest Porsche has come to creating a minivan concept was with the Porsche Vision “Renndienst,” a futuristic-looking concept introduced in 2018. It was inspired by the legendary Volkswagen California but never made it to production.

It Wasn’t Just the Porsche Minivan

To ensure that his wife wasn’t the only person showcasing a new car, Zuckerberg unveiled the new minivan alongside an impressive Porsche 911 GT3 with a Touring finish, giving it a much sportier and aerodynamic look. The base price for the 911 GT3 starts at $224,900.

In his Instagram post, Zuckerberg added, “I threw in a manual GT3 Touring to make it his and hers.” He also included a photo of his wife and him at the West Coast Customs facility with both Porsches in the background.

Both vehicles were painted in the same Crayon Gray color. In the comments, Chan even joked about how fast the Porsche minivan is: “They put in a boost mode. For when I’m late for drop off???”

This transformed Zuckerberg has not only changed his style of dress but has now gone a step further by daring to collaborate on the design of his family’s cars.
