Amazon has updated its strategy to tackle the popularity of ultra-low-cost competitors Temu and Shein. Amazon Haul, its new section featuring products under $20, is here.

How it stands out. Amazon Haul offers products under $20, with many priced even lower. Here’s what sets it apart from Amazon’s usual offerings:

  • Low prices: All products cost under $20, with most under $10 and some below $1.
  • Mobile-only access: Amazon Haul is accessible exclusively via mobile browser or the Amazon Shopping app.
  • Wide selection: It offers more than 300 million products across 35 categories, including fashion, home, and technology.

The trick. Amazon Haul’s secret to lower prices is extended shipping times: one to two weeks. Unlike typical Amazon offerings, this new section prioritizes affordability over speed, mirroring the approach of platforms like Temu. The goal is simple: As long as the product arrives, delivery speed is secondary.

Amazon Haul offers free shipping on orders over $25, with many products shipped by air directly from factories in China.

As usual, Amazon includes free returns on purchases over $3 within 15 days.

Amazon Haul

Amazon Haul is a Chinese-style Amazon. Its design is clearly influenced by Chinese e-commerce platforms, and it emphasizes discounts, coupons, and visually appealing products. Users will find categories like New in, Tiny treats, and Gifts.

Extra discounts on bulk orders. Amazon Haul also offers additional discounts for larger orders. Shoppers can receive a 5% discount on orders over $50 and a 10% discount on orders over $75.

Investors are optimistic. Analysts at Bank of America say that the new offering could help Amazon counter the rapid growth of Temu and Shein, which are expanding in several markets.
