iOS 17.3 is out now. Here’s what’s new in Apple’s new OS update.

In the latest iOS 17.3 update, Apple has fixed various bugs while also introducing some new features and functions. Although these features may not drastically change the operating system, they include valuable improvements to some of its native apps and functions.

In this article, we will provide details on the new features introduced in this update based on Apple’s official list of changes. We will also provide instructions on how to update your iPhone or iPad to the latest version.

New Features in iOS 17.3

Here’s the list of improvements and small new features that are coming to the iPhone and iPad with iOS 17.3:

  • Stolen Device Protection: If your device gets stolen, Apple’s got you covered. With improved security measures, certain actions will require Face ID or Touch ID for authentication, and is not possible anymore to manually type in a code. Even if someone knows your password, they won’t be able to change sensitive data like your passcode or Apple ID password.
  • Security Delay: Theft protection also includes a new security hold. If someone tries to make changes to your sensitive data on the phone and Face ID or Touch ID is not authenticated, the iPhone will delay the changes for an hour. After an hour, the iPhone will prompt for authentication again to confirm the change.
  • New Lock Screen wallpaper: In honor of Black History Month, Apple has added a new lock screen background that celebrates black history and culture.
  • Collaborative Playlists on Apple Music: Apple Music finally introduces collaborative playlists, where you can invite other users to add, reorder or remove songs in a playlist.
  • Reactions in collaborative playlists: In Apple Music, users who have editing access to collaborative playlists can use emojis to react on any track added to the playlist.
  • AirPlay hotel support: AirPlay is available in select hotels to allow guests to stream content directly on the TV in their room.
  • Warranty coverage: You can view warranty coverage for all devices linked to your Apple ID in the AppleCare & Warranty section of the Settings.
  • Crash detection optimizations: The crash detection feature has been enhanced for all iPhone 14 and 15 devices.
