Below, we’ll explain how to use Karaoke Mode on Spotify, which is quite easy. However, there’s a workaround for those who, for one reason or another, can’t access this feature.

Spotify launched its Karaoke Mode in 2022 in some English-speaking countries, including the U.S. If you live abroad, you can still turn Spotify into a karaoke machine using the lyrics display function, which allows you to see the lyrics as the song progresses.

How to Use Karaoke Mode on Spotify

Available to all users, Karaoke Mode lets you sing along to your favorite songs as long as the function is available for that specific tune.

The feature goes one step further than simply displaying the lyrics and changing color as the song progresses. It also tests your singing skills and, by using your device’s microphone to analyze your voice, gives you a score between 0 and 100 after the karaoke session.

If you want to try out Spotify’s Karaoke Mode, follow these simple steps:

  1. Launch the Spotify app on your device.
  2. Choose a song, play it, and go to the Now Playing view.
  3. To see real-time lyrics, scroll down on your phone or click the microphone icon on the desktop app. It's important to note that real-time lyrics aren’t available for all songs.
  4. If Karaoke Mode is available for your chosen song, you’ll see a Sing button with a mic in the lyrics screen.

Once you’re done, Spotify will score your performance.

How to Karaoke on Spotify Without the Karaoke Mode

As we mentioned earlier, there’s an alternative for those who can’t access Spotify’s Karaoke Mode.

Spotify

Start by playing the song you want to sing. Then, click on the microphone icon at the bottom right of the screen where the volume bar is located.

This will bring up a screen that shows the song's lyrics, with the current line of the song highlighted so you know what to sing.

Again, please note that not all songs offer the lyrics function. In this regard, it’s more common for popular songs, but some less popular songs may not have this option.

Moreover, as of now, there’s no way to adjust the voice volume within the app, so you’ll need to sing louder than the singer.

Spotify

If you're using your phone, simply swipe down while playing a song to reveal the option to expand the lyrics and enable lyric visualization.

Finally, in order to sing along with the music, you’ll need to connect your computer or mobile device to a karaoke setup and use microphones to sing along.
