Fortnite returns to iPhones four years later via the new Epic Games Store.
In addition to Fortnite, Epic Games also launched the mobile version of Fall Guys.
Other stores like AltStore and Aptoide will also have Epic Games titles.
It was only a matter of time. Epic Games, the company behind Fortnite and the seed of all the significant changes that Apple, the App Store, and iOS have undergone recently, has just launched its app store. The Epic Games Store arrives on iOS and Android, with Fortnite as its spearhead and a surprise: the mobile version of Fall Guys.
What the Epic Games Store Mobile offers. The new Epic Games Store is really simple. It has no frills, no sections, and no shortcuts. Instead, it has three games: Fortnite—missing from the App Store and Google Play since August 13, 2020—the mobile version of Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe. These are the three starting points to face the App Store.
But only in the EU. As you might expect, the Epic Games Store for iOS is only available in the EU, at least for now. Epic Games claims that Apple is still blocking all iOS users outside of Europe from accessing Fortnite and the mobile store because the European DMA makes third-party stores on iOS possible.
Fortnite is back. Although it was easy on Android to access Fortnite (it was enough to download the APK from the official website), it was much more complicated on iOS. The only way to play was through the cloud, which has pros and cons. That’s outdated, at least on the old continent. If you’re reading us from this side of the planet, all you must do is download the Epic Games Store on iOS and then download the game as usual from the App Store, and that’s it. You can download the store from the official website.
By the way, it’s not just Fortnite that’s coming; you’ll also be able to play LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, and the experiences created with UEFN and the new Battle Royale chapter.
Fall Guys is also here. Although Epic’s Grand Prix-type game isn’t going through its best moment, the mobile version has some good things. The first is that it’s free. The second is that it’s available on iOS (EU only) and Android. And the third is that it supports cross-play with consoles and PC.
AltStore gets a boost. As expected, AltStore, which recently received funding from Epic Games, has also benefited. From today, it will also be possible to download Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe from this third-party store. Soon, these games will also reach Aptoide for iOS and ONE Store on Android.
